THP also comes with an extra oil cooler in addition to what space_2001 mentioned.
Keep in mind insurance doesn't cover if you wreck your car at a track.
The THP isn't necessary but it helps.
If you want to track your car you're better off getting an M4 and keep the 440i as a daily or get a different daily if having both isn't an option.
If you keep your 440i and track it just upgrade the suspension and brakes and you'll be fine.
