Lesson 1: Don't make any sudden movements. I can understand why it looks AWFULLY suspicious when you're reaching for your DL at that speed.

Lesson 2: Always verbally address what you're about to do during a traffic stop. Say something like: "My DL and reg is in the glove compartment" or "I'm reaching into my left cargo pocket for my wallet." So far, I have not been shot; even with a shotgun and knife in close proximity.

Speed of movements and verbal intent is VERY important if you don't want to get shot. Most cops I've met are pretty chill. Only one out of the dozens of traffic stops had a bit of high speed pursuit syndrome and cussed me out. Be smart, ESPECIALLY if you're black or Mexican; sad reality. Don't be a fcking victim.
