It also depends on his maturity level. But if he's into cars, you know he's probably going to try things that other non-automotively inclined kids won't do (donuts, burnouts, drifting, etc). I guarantee he will experiment with turning DSC off at least. Male + 16 years old + into cars + RWD + more than enough power + rain/snow - DSC = you do the math.
I agree with the FWD suggestion above unless you absolutely KNOW he's mature enough to not go hooning about in a RWD BMW.
