If you don't know what it does, you don't need one.

It improves traction when putting heavy power in-curve, with bumps. With no LSD, all the power goes to the "lifted" wheel, and no power goes to the on-the-ground wheel, resulting in the lifted wheel spinning more and giving you none of the desired effects of power oversteer you were looking for. With the LSD, some of the power goes to the on-ground wheel, and less goes to the lifted wheel, so you have a more controlled delivery of power and you can still throttle steer the car even when it is unsettled on bumps.
