A lot of variables have changed: rules of the game, level of competition, average player size, talent level of team mates, etc. Any inclination towards one player is just that: bias. The younger guns will normally always go for the one they have experienced whereas the older generation are passionate to the stars of their time. It's the same with Pele-Maradona among soccer fans, or Bolt-Carl Lewis among athletics fans.
