In my view, educating about birth control is the key to this all, but we all know accidents do happen. For men, it is easier to walk away, but for women it is pretty damn hard. We are humans and we fuck up a lot. Too many times this option should've been taken just for the good of humanity. Man gets to leave the bed, and do it all over again in a few minutes, we women carry the child inside of us for the 40 weeks, and then we will bare the traumas of the birth, the wait, the giving up/ keeping the kid and possibly losing all prospects of a better future. Can you honestly say when not just thinking about the ethics and the time life begins, this is fair? |
Its an interesting question. Ultimately, I suppose I see it as a poor choice to have sex if you are unprepared for the consequences. Not really a matter of whether it is "fair" or not.
However, I do agree with your viewpoint that men tend to get to "walk away"...there truly isn't as much repercussions I would say for men, as opposed to women. To that end, I also wouldn't be opposed for making the laws more supportive in that case where men have to be more responsible for their actions as well...after all, it was a joint decision.
