I was pulling hard for the 'Canes. First, because Brind'Amour was one of my favorite Flyers & he deserved to hoist the Cup... but more importantly, I'm still stinging from the Cup losses to the Oilers in 85 & 87.
My guess is that Edmonton HAD to have sold their soul to the devil in order to have Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, Fuhr, and Kurri (among others) in their prime all on the same team.
Then again, the game 7 broadcast was probably interrupted a few times in Carolina with NASCAR updates.
