hmm..thats odd. For me (08 idrive), i select a song to play and once its playing, i highlight/select that song and press down on the idrive knob/button/dial/whatever-you-want-to-call-it and up pops a context menu of which has an item called "Random".
Not sure if its available in the new idrive thoe
