Good on you for realizing it's a blessing.
Personally if you're into cars and the M3 is what you want the 328 won't move you. I'd keep looking. I've seen several for ok prices at dealers or buy privately.
Having said that I wouldn't count unrealized bonus checks to make it happen or make you feel ok about buying. But if you can afford it then go for it.
