The folding seat has a lower that goes fully across an upper that goes from the center right seat to the center of the left seat and two side bolsters. By the upper piece being multiple sections, this will naturally require more weight for similar sturdiness.
The same applies for the folding aspect there’s a large metal support bar in the bottom Of the upper section. Bar must be very thick and sturdy so each half can fold rather than create a brace system.
Beyond the stronger structure, there’s also the added additional weight for the latch mechanism, which Hass to be a few pounds in itself
