...numbers aren't everything, and the Race(s) at Monza proved that. you can have the most powerful bike, the best power-to-weight ratio, etc., but it isn't going to win you anything unless you have the handling & balance that the more researched and developed chasses have (Ducati, Suzuki, Yamaha, Aprillia, etc).

+1...BMW's S1000RR debut at Monza speaks for itself. in race #1, only one of the two BMW S1000RR's finished the race - one took 7th place, and thew other never completed a single full lap. who came in 1st and 2nd on the other hand? team Ducati Xerox and their 1098R's.
in race #2, one BMW finished 9th, while the other didn't even make it to the starting grid. one of the Ducati Xerox 1098R's on the other hand finished 2nd, despite not winning. and a 1098R from another team finished ahead of the BMW too.
