Are you leaving the headlight switch in the auto position or the manual positions? If it's in the manual position they will stay on. If you want them to turn off when you get out of the car it should be in auto. I always leave mine in the auto position!
Not to be rude, but I think it might be best to post this as a separate thread...it is kind of unrelated!
