Just a suggestion based on the fact that the OP was originally thinking about a 320d and therefor must have compared them. I based my comparison on my own experience when I drove them back to back recently. The 330i is obviously a fantastic engine, much more refined etc but to be honest with you once I got used to both engines I didn't feel a huge difference in the performance when on the road (especially in gear acceleration) but then again, I think sometimes car ownership isn't all about 0-60 and top speed (since they are rarely used). If it was I wouldn't be in a weedy little 318d
