I'm leaning more toward financing after looking at these numbers on a hypothetical M4. Thoughts? Lease costs $3k more! But do have less worry about the impact an accident could have on value.
Lease VS Finance total cost if planning to sell car after 3 years:
Lease cost to buy or sell vehicle
925.28 (12k miles/year) x 36 =33,310.08
Lease buyout if selling car= 44,061, so total car purchase expense=77,371.08
Finance cost to buy or sell vehicle:
Sale price:
71,250
plus 500 doc fee
plus 300 sales tax--
72050
Minus 1000 coupon
71,050
financed over 72 months at 2.24%
1055.52 x 36= 37998.72
Balance of loan payoff if selling car at 3 years=36,347.77
Total car purchase expense=74,346.49
Finance total payoff (assuming I sell the car after 3 years) is $3024.51 cheaper than had I leased the car.
