Car and Driver is pretty consistently rating Audis these days as better than their BMW counterparts. More fun to drive, dramatically better interiors. I think the fun to drive part is mostly because of runflats, but still...

The mew Mazda 3 is a complete redesign. Much better than the previous car, and rated by many as best in class for driving dynamics. Go drive one and see for yourself.
