If you're 19 and purchasing your first car, imo you should buy something a) reliable b) cheap to repair/insure and c) cheap to buy and drive it for a year, then move on to whatever your budget/desires allow.

I too purchased my 06 330 at 19, but felt confident in doing so since 3 years of owning 2 other cars (and learning about/performing nearly all maintenance not involving pulling the engine/trans) has taught me nearly everything I needed to confidently keep my car running well out of warranty, myself.

Though you may have the option of relying on warranty, you're much better off saving your money and learning by going a less expensive route to begin with.

Maybe in a year you'll also realize that the money you can spend on a $20k+ bmw is more wisely spent invested, at least until you graduate college, when you may need it most; but obviously this is a person-specific predicament and may not involve yourself.
