Talking F31 328d at the drag strip!

My company (Turn 14 Distribution) hosted our annual company day at Maple Grove Raceway in PA today. We rented the track for some intense bracket racing and a nice cookout ;-) Temps were in the 70s which made for a nice event.

For a 180hp/280tq, 4065lb (w driver) AWD pig I was pretty impressed with the results. I made 12 runs and my best result is pictured below. Car 102 - 15.519 @ a blistering 87.33 mph. Most of my runs were in the 15.5x range at 86.7-87.3 mph. The car is stock other than a drop in aFe filter.

I used 'launch control' every time which was pretty repeatable. The only problem I had was seen when powerbraking it for more than say ~5 seconds (waiting for the tree) The revs just drop and you will bog off the line despite anything you do.

I remember researching this car and heard people saying it was a 17 second car. I've seen results showing it as a high 16 second car. Neither are true ;-) Motorweek has a 328d sedan running 14.7@96mph here, which seems a bit hard to believe: http://www.motorweek.org/reviews/roa.../2014_bmw_328d

Either way, the car is still slow, but better than I expected :-)

3850lbs, no driver with 3/4 tank of fuel.
