I carry nothing in the cabin, ever, and encourage passengers to do the same. I put my jacket and briefcase in the trunk for the commute, even when I'm solo, just out of habit. As a convertible owner, you learn to leave nothing in the cabin, and it works better for the coupe as well.
The longest trip the G and I have made was about 3 hours, though. She had her shades and her iPod, so she was happy enough. Road-tripping will likely be more problematic. I like to make good time, but pull over for meals, drinks, etc. She wants to poke along at 55 (even when the limit is 70!), but doesn't want to stop.
