Convertibles are fun. For me personally, the day-to-day joy of having the top down outweighs the weight penalty.
Depends where you live too. London seems to have a very similar climate to the American Northwest, where it's constantly drizzling and 40s-50s for 8 months of the year. But those several good months could make it worthwhile.
