While getting access to early software is great, as with most things there is a risk.
My main worry would be if they bundle new non approved ( not signed off) map files with firmware combined.
Map files on their own would most likely only effect the nav side of things (if was an issue).
If was a combined file (map and firmware), then the firmware could brick whatever hardware it was updating.
We have had a few incidents of this lately with people cutting corners and using pre production firmware, then bricking the hardware.
