Summer/track I run 255/40-17 R1r's on my 17x9 arc8's. some folks run 245 because of fitment/lack of camber concerns.
Winter I run 235/45-17 Xi3's on same wheels with great results. You get the narrow tread you want for winter but with the wider wheels it doesn't look so funny. Handling is great.
