1M Exhaust on my 135i - Completed!! BMR + Advan

Hi all,

ever since I got my 135 I have always wanted a quad exhaust... initial searches led me to the Arqray exhaust and 3DDesign diffuser combo and whilst exquisitely made and crafted, it was exquisitely expensive.
The other option was to have the muffler on one side (ala factory) and run a pipe over to the other side for the two tips to poke out... I was tempted to do this but decided against it.

Fast forward 12 months into ownership and I'm chatting with Pete at Advan and he reckons the 1M muffler will fit the 135 with some mods. Whilst excited, am sceptical about the old codger's claims but decide to go out on a limb anyway and purchase the bits and pieces necessary. When doing the numbers the estimated cost seemed like excellent value. A few months wait as I collected what was needed and researched parts needed and then at the dyno day last Sat it was my first time seeing the car with quads all done and dusted - boy was I happy

The parts list isn't too extensive:

- 1M Bootfloor (OEM)
- 1M Heatshield (OEM)
- Quad diffuser of your choice (I went with the outer quads rather than inner quads like an M3)
- Exhaust of your choosing... currently I have an OEM 1M exhaust on, but now I know it fits I can choose any aftermarket 1M exhaust

And then the labour component/s:
- Take out old boot floor
- Relocate battery
- Fit new bootfloor
- Weld new custom exhaust hangers (old ones don't work)
- Align tips with diffuser

Some pics of the work in progress:

Chris's (excellent) welds as the tips have to be moved out ~60mm to accomodate the diffuser... a diffuser with openings approx 60mm in would negate the need for this (and save you chopping up the muffler):

Bolts up neatly to OEM N54 mids

Exhaust in place! Fitting nice and snug with new OEM 1M bootfloor. No tips yet

the finished product!!

More photos to come, particularly as I have a new boot to go on

Pete @ Advan is more than happy to perform the labour on this and given mine was the guinea pig, subsequent 1M exhaust conversions will be able to be completed much faster

I am happy to supply parts (and/or part numbers if you wish to source yourself)

Pricing on this is 99% finalised:

1. Parts + Labour + excluding exhaust so you can choose your own: $1,890
2. Parts + Labour + new 1M OEM exhaust: $2,990

Frankly I think option 1 is better - choose an aftermarket 1M exhaust or pickup a second hand unit as people swap out for aftermarket (saw one on eBay for $500)
