Maximum wheel offset
Can anyone say how much I can change the offset from standard before a) the steering is affected, b) suspension / bearing wear is caused?
I'm fitting a winter tyre set and have been offered 8" ET30. The OEM is 8" ET48. This puts the wheels 18mm further from the car's centre line out of a total tread width of 235mm. I have no idea if this amount is significant or not.
Clearances are OK (obviously) and they look OK, but I don't know - you do read about bump-steer, torque-steer, bearing wear etc...
Thanks
