It isn't technically a console port but I think I understand what you mean. I also hated it when I started playing. It does have a strong console feel to it.
I started playing "hardcore' mode and the game is much more enjoyable. If you haven't given that a try yet, I would. People take half as many bullets, no 3d spotting, no hit confirmation, etc. It's the only mode I'll play.
MWO is great too.
