For somebody that plays this rarely and wouldn't even hold a valid handicap, I'd suggest looking for a used set. Definitely would want cavity backs and would also suggest game improvement clubs with significant offsets.

+1 to golffrr's suggestion for new grips, but I don't think fitting would be needed...yet. If the OP starts to get serious, he could still get them bent to the correct angle for his swing, and add lead tape if the swing weights needed to be adjusted.

From there, in full agreement when purchasing new clubs that full and proper fitting makes a huge difference.
