Stock 2013 Mustang GT is rated at 420 Hp and carries a 3620 pound curb weight... this should be a fairly even match for the E9x M3. Although the GT has the advantage of 390 ft-lbs of torque, the M3 has a wider rev range to operate over before a shift is required.
If the Mustang ran away, it was likely modified with a Vortech or similar.
