they should both take the same sim cards as they changed to the mini ones on the 5's and should be the same for the 6's i believe unless they are a different format all together.

Oh ok. I'm going to order my mom an iPhone 6. When it comes in, I'mma just put my sim in the iPhone 6 and she can take my current iphone 5. |
Correct. iPhone 5 and newer all use micro-SIM so you can just swap them over.
