It's only a bonus if you want to save money on lenses by not buying L lenses. That being said, there are some exceptions to that rule, like the EF-S 10-22mm, etc.
You can remote trigger pretty easily with some affordable, yet durable Paul C. Buff CyberSync modules.

If built-in flash is a deal breaker, get a 7D over the 5D2.
I've had 0 problems with any of my refurbished Canon equipment. Some of the lenses even look brand new. My refurb 5D2 came with 734 actuations, which I'm with, since I saved a
ton of money over buying brand new.
