I have a 2011 535i Xdrive, and can speak to reliability in my 7 months of ownership. I got a very clean one-owner example, and I think the specific ownership from the past makes a large difference. In 21,000 miles, has given me zero issues, and knock on wood it stays that way. currently at 131,000 miles. Gas milage is a nice plus of the n55 over n63. I have not owned an n63, so will not speak on them.
