Thats the first thing you should do. Get seat time and upgraded "street" tires.

Was your car a Sport or M-Sport model as well?
I'm probably being overly paranoid about overheating issues on a car I don't even have yet, it's just knowing that the Sport model gets an extra radiator, and the M-Sport gets 2 extra makes me think that BMW knows something about overheating in testing.
I agree with you, I'm all about seat time and getting proper tires on my track car
. I spend more than my fair share of time autocrossing and at track days. Getting a 3 series is me preempting a need for functional back seats (have you seen the "back seat" of a BRZ?).
