It is one of those so-called "tricks of the trade" - little known, but alarmingly effective, if one wishes simply to increase volume, with no thought to such matters as power gains, weight loss, etc. I believe its proper nomenclature is "ice pick", or some such thing.

However, if you were to use a drill bit, in lieu of the pick, there would be some weight savings!

Anyone who wants ro practice, I have an OEM muffler you can have cheap (less connecting pipes, though).
