Any way to "save" this picture in PS?

Took some shots of my daughter playing soccer today, and I got this one of them playing around on the sidelines. The lighting is tough because my daughter's face is in the shadows, so it doesn't look ideal.

I don't have the skills in PS to fix it, so I'm wondering if some of you more experienced types could do some tweaks? Ideally, a brief description of the changes would be a beneficial learning experience as well.

Larger versions available on Flickr.

I've got the NEF raw file too, but it is 11MB....

Thanks!

Thanks! I think lightening it up and maybe a little color correction in the shadow areas will help a lot.

I was wondering what the "dodge" tool did. I've read some magazine articles talking about "dodge and burn", but I wasn't sure what they were doing with those tools exactly. I've only had PS for a few days, so I'm lucky to know how to start the thing really! Time to find a local class for it I suppose.

Np..the dodge tool actually brighten up the darken areas such as the face in the shadow in this case. And the burn tool does vice versa darkening brighten areas. Both of these tools used to much would create undesired effects, but if you use it just right it can make for a great tool for issues like this one.
