I have absolutely no idea who picks out their car 2.5 years before their lease is up. So many things could change and your mind may switch sides 100 X before then.

I have already changed my mind a million times. Lol. It's not official, but I think I will go with a convertible and M3 esque car. So that's where I am getting my thoughts from.

So the OP JUST got his new car and is already anticipating his next "upgrade"! This will make for a disapointing 3 years of driving if you really hoped for something bigger and better. That is why I never window shop because once you try something better than you do not like what you have nearly as much.

And for anyone who says their 328 is "close" to a 335 with a tune and some other small pieces have clearly never driven a 335. The numbers bmw released is 300hp but you have to be living in isolation to not know now they make closer to 330hp in stock form and I do not care about power to weight, they pull like a freight train compared to a 330i let alone a 328i with some mods.

Also whoever said the 335 weighs almost 250 pounds more is way off. They are within 70 pounds of each other. The turbo engine does not way 250 pounds more I am sorry to say.

Bottom line is stop thinking about how slow your car is and enjoy the other features such as great looks and handling.

Spoiler on your other car

Ive driven a 335i and a 335is...Still not taking back what I said regarding being close

But anyways yes the point is 335i is the better car period. I fell inlove with the 335is when I was shopping but simply cant afford it

a 335i e90 231lbs heavier then a 328i e90.

Let me break that down for you so you can know exactly why this is:

#1 the 328I has an N52 engine, made of mostly magnesium and an aluminum sleeve. = very light

#2 the 335 has an aluminum black with an iron sleeve = heavier. then add turbos. Then add a fat pig of an exhaust system to it..

Here are the numbers:

328i e90 - Curb weight: 3362 Gross: 4398

335i e90 - Curb Weight: 3593 Gross: 4652

No let's do math:

3593 - 3362 = 231

4652 - 4398 = 254

So yes the 335 is a lot heavier then the 328i.

thanks for your misinformed post, Id be happy to answer any of your other questions too

According to BMW specs -

335 sedan weighs 3593 lbs.
328 sedan weighs 3362 lbs.

Difference is 230 lbs.

There are other components that are heavier in order to handle the extra power. The weight is not just the engine.

This was me, and continues to be for the next nine months. Went for a 328xi coupe. Can't wait to dump it for a 335 msport E90, or F30 even. Sorry all of my N/A friends

Going to the dark side I see , nothing wrong with NA; it just has to be proper NA, (BMW S54, S65, S85)

Although you will still not have the same punch down low as a proper turbo.

Yes, I'm afraid so brother
I'm a lease type guy so I figure why the hell not get something that will put a cheesy candy shop grin on my mug every time I mash the pedal, and still not have to worry about warranty issues

If you are getting a new N55, then pay the extra 600 for the performance package if you are not modding your car. Apparently according to reviews; it's worth it.

Spoiler on your other car

I have had my car for almost a year now. Have 2 years left.

I really love my car and the power is good enough for me.

The reason I am asking is because I do not like the next gen f30 that much based off pics and if I wanted to buy my car because of that, I want to know if I can get that power.

I am not trying to be a poser or anything, so sorry if it came off like that.

It's not like I am putting a 335i badge on my car or a M3 badge.

I proudly wear my 328i badge.

Plus, coming from a 2000 Toyota Avalon to this BMW was already a huge step for me.

I am not knowledgeable about the subject, so that's why I am asking.

You mention more that we could do. Could you please elaborate on what more there could be done to a 328i to make it faster with added hp and torque? What would be best to buy? the BMW performance quip or with aftermarket products?

Three stage intake manifold plus AA tune ~30-40hp
Removal of primary cats or aftermarket headers ~15-20hp

These are the two mods I am working on doing to my car. Total cost is follows.

$499 Tune
$205 manifold (used) or $~900 (new)
Removal of primary cats $75 (remove manifolds myself and take to exhaust shop to cut out and weld in pipe)
or
aftermarket headers $400 for a really cheap OBX set, $850-1100 for Gavin's set or pricey supersprint headers.
