Actually, the production number doesn't represent the amount produced. I think I read somewhere that there are only around 20 in existence! Custom built to order.

I've heard there's no "set" price on one as well, people claim between 90-130k seems a bit steep at 130k however :P

I'd love to see someone shoot this with a 1.4 or 2TC

beats me... but these photos were taken from nearly a mile away, and it costs just a fraction of that 1200 mm beast.

can you imagine moving window to window with that telescope? you prolly barely nudge it and it'll be looking at some building next door.

that's why you get the ones that have the electronics to move it for you.

and also, this is where blowing air at the telescope will move it to where you want.

Just make sure that your subject isn't going to move.

I'm really coveting the new f/4 600mm and/or the 200-400mm f/4 with 1.4x TC built in. Unfortunately, I think they each be in the $12,000 range.

I find that 200-400 really appealing. It will be interesting to see what happens when it comes out and how well it works.

Canon has already announced a lot of hot new stuff for 2012 and there'll probably be a 5D MkIII on top of what's already been announced. I'm going to sit back a let it all get out on the streets, reviewed and all the RAW conversion software updated before I buy anything, but changes are comin'...

Canon has to be enjoying Nikon's woes with all their flooding and such.

I can't wait to see what comes out in the next year.

I'm a little worried however, I'd like to see what the 5D3 will be like, but if it's obsolete within 2 months of it coming out because the prosumer market suddenly goes mirrorless I'll be pretty annoyed.

I think that EVIL cameras will mature very quickly, but it'll probably be a good three-years before you see a FF sensor in a "pro" camera. I do think that my next body purchase it'll be my last mirrored camera.

Canon hasn't really entered the mirrorless EVIL fray, but I'd be surprised if they didn't introduce some nice cameras by year end.

someone posted a link for an adaptor for canon lenses to go on someone elses mirrorless uinit, so that means the canon lenses will work given the right circumstances. Granted a larger spacer may be needed and the camera will probably be the size of a G series camera, but that's a small price to pay to get into the market which at this point has eluded them.

time will tell, and i know a lot of people will be watching.

Interesting site. Price tracking for photography stuff. Most of it is in Canadian dollars, but at the bottom is a chart for USD. The 7D was really pricey in late spring 2011 and has dropped quite a bit since. The current rebates end Feb. 4th and I'm debating whether or not to grab one before that or save more and get one later. I may pay a bit more later, but I'll be in a better position financially and I can't see really needing one until mid- to late-spring.
