Question Atlanta Smog Help

Just moved here from california and need to get smoked. I live in Alpharetta if it makes a difference. Do they do a visual inspection? If I have an intake will I fail?

Any and all advice will be appreciated. PM if sensitive.

Thanks in advance guys and cant wait to hit up a meet.

No visual, just code scan. As long as the car shows readiness and has no codes, you're good. And of course the gas cap.

Actually some inspectors WILL slide a mirror under the car. My car was so lowered I doubt he could really see but i have cats. Im the only one this happened too? *duluth insp station*

Edit I guess not!

•All 1996 and newer vehicles will receive a three-part inspection
•An OBD test to check your vehicle’s emission control performance history
•A fuel cap inspection to check for adequate seal
•A visual inspection of the catalytic converter to check for tampering or removal
•All of our locations (Alpharetta, Marietta, Kennesaw, Woodstock and Dallas, GA) can perform this procedure in just minutes

I suppose it would depend on the station. A lot of them are chains now so they might be more stringent. I've had tests done over the years in Norcross, Doraville, Snellville, Lilburn, and Buckhead. They've never slid the mirror under any of my cars or even tried to look. I suppose a lot of guys wouldn't even bother since no one's checking to see if they're checking.

The chains most likely have a protocol that is to be followed with every "customer." Find the little rinky-dink places that charge $15 and you're more likely to get the "bare minimum service."

I never thoug of it like this before, but this is the only time when I spend money and hope to get as little service as possible lol!
