2010 Price Adjustment made official by BMWUSA

Word is officially out. Looks like in the USA we will see a 0.4% base price increase across the board. Also the "Destination and Handling" charge will increase by 50 bucks to $875. This will all take effect January 1, 2010.

The BMW ActiveHybrid X6, BMW ActiveHybrid 7, and the BMW 550i Gran Turismo will actually not be affected since they already had the price change rolled in, but will still get hit by the 50$ destination charge increase.

So if you were on the fence about getting a car, might as well get in on it before getting slapped with the 0.4%.

good news for all. The higher the price the higher the value of my current car. Wish they had made it like 5% or something

Who said 40%? 0.4%... less then 1% I just got a similar PM about this too lol. % = percent

on a 10,000$ car, the price increase would be 40$

0.4% / 100% = 0.004

ex. 2.9% ---> 0.029

I till like Porsche's business scheme. They cut production so much that even the 2nd hand market inventory dried up and stabilized depreciation. Now that's a company taking care of customers, intentional or not.

So if an order was placed back in November and the car won't arrive till February at best, do I get hit with the price increase? I would think not as the dealer would have already paid for the car and I gave a deposit.

Nope....you're good with the price you were quoted when you ordered the car.

The change is only valid for cars purchased on or after the effective date, and by purchased that means bought on the lot or ordered through the dealer.

Oh, my econ professor would be so proud right now. Our final was based off of these exact kinds of things And BMW was even mentioned in a demand elasticity problem, too!

methinks he knew something.

ARE YOU ON THIS BOARD, ECON PROF.!?

Anyone know the current price elasticity of demand for the 3 series? We can find out how much of a decrease in sales they'll have as a result.

True that -- how much you pay for 1kg of bread, a liter of milk, how many miles per year you put on your car, how much you pay for your kids to go to (good) College, how about the cost for you to go to Doctor, or medical insurance....
Things are relative, but yes, the USA overall has pretty good Standard as compared to the other industrialized countries...
