Ipod Connectivity Kit Issues
Fitted my retrofit ipod kit the other day, powering up ipod no problem, booked into stealers to get the coding done, know the sevice manager so did it on the cheap. Car programmed fine, coding worked no problem tested with the ipod working fine, however as soon as you turn off the ignition it seems to lose the coding They then recoded it again, same working fine until ignition off and then loses it. The dealer put it down to a faulty control module on the kit, however I am sceptical and wondered if anyone else has had similar issues and knows of solutions??
Also has parrot kit in too so wondered if that would effect it?? Cheers |

Coding will be stored in your HU / sat nav.
Never heard of this before. I do not think its to do with the ipod retrofit kit / module. Possibly, they don't know the coding or your car has odd HU.

Thanks for the reply makkan00, the car has the business navigation HU fitted. Is there anything I can get them to check with regards to the coding? I can see this turning into an expensive retro fit!

Ask them if all of your modules are updated especially MASK.
If not, update it and re-try. If it does not work, take it to somebody like makkan or somebody with autologic.

Thanks will have a look as I got a full print out of all updates etc, will look through them. If its not there I will call the dealer and ask. I thought i would put it to the dealer get it done there as there is very little AutoLogic peeople around here who know how to use it properly. Thanks again will keep you updated.

Update from the dealer today my car does not have a MASK module and it is the BO module that would control this and it was updated, it is mentioned on the upload sheet as having been succesfully updated. Dont know if there is much more to check?
Thanks |

So folks thought I would put an update on, received new module from my supplier and put car into dealers again today, same happens again. Technician comes out with me and tells me that he let the car 'go to sleep' five times and the re-tried and was working fine. The seem to be at a loss now. They took the decision to order up a kit themselves and fit it tomorrow to see if it does the same. When I queried who pays for this they told me they will absorb cost so that they can resolve the issue. They also gave me home a new 320i x drive, not a bad car :-)

So finally got issue resolved Friday night. BMW went to their PUMA team who managed to work out that the fibre optic was losing too much light and dropping the coding of the retrofit kit. New loop fitted and working perfect. Got charged nominal fee of 100 quid which I thought was ok considering the job sheet had 23hours on it! Happy now

Result have to say i love the whole thinking behind it, that they did not know the problem and wanted to know the problem and resolved it no matter what. I would say the £100 was not a bad deal at all really.
