I'd suggest a downpipe. You'll gain maybe 20hp along with the switch and get more sound. The install is a bit more involved however.
I'll share a vid I made with my GoPro. I've got the M-PPK factory upgrade and a catted Challenge DP. This was like 2 days after install, it's actually a bit louder now (especially on the cackle in Sport mode) after a month.

Just installed the m per exhaust.. couldn't tell any difference in sound... fitment is also very poor, pipes hang too low. Now I need to spend extra money/time to make it snug against the bumper.
If this exhaust was any other brand besides BMW it would get ripped on alot more.

Yes, very satisfied with both. Don't have a sound clip but it's definitely much deeper than stock exhaust, and maybe just a bit louder as well. Doesn't drone, though, which is a big factor.

I'm hopeing the MPPK and 1,000 miles will help increase the sound.... from what people say on the forums it sounds like it should.

Yes, as with any new exhaust system, it takes a little while to "break in". So far, so good here, though. I prefer not to have the exhaust be too intrusive with the windows up and cruising on the highway.

Even my meisterschaft isint too intrusive, although there is some drone. Ive heard the mpe...It does not drone at all, but then again it barely sounds louder, just a little throatier.

I'm leaning toward Akrapovic as it's street legal and i'll call the dealer tomorrow to ask them if they can install it and i can keep my warranty safe.
in my area i went to a garage the orders Akrapovic exhausts and he said that the BMW dealer in Kuwait installed akra systems for few M5 (F10)owners and kept the warranty safe. the stock exhaust is fine to me with Mppk but sometimes you want it to be abit louder you know :"( sometimes i think about HFC downpipe but am not sure if will cause smoke under WOT.

Without a cat, yes, but probably not with the one mentioned above. In reality, most of the joy in the experience is the sound. I love my car so much more, since my exhaust has broken in. It just sounds fantastic. Might just get an intake to increase turbo sound as well!
As for warranty...It would only effect the exhaust system itself, your engine is not going to burst into flames with an aftermarket exhaust... Hopefully! Last edited by btbossman; 10-04-2013 at 03:20 PM.. |

If Boomn29 could reply or any1 else with challenge HFC downpipe
does it cause smoke out of exhaust under full throttle? did it throw any Errors or engine warning lights?

the dealer can void warranty if you installed anything outside of his garage.

Ooh, That sucks...I would definitely stay OEM than, if your entire warranty is at risk.

it def does..i was around 1,200 miles and I was still hearing it get a bit louder. Only thing that bothers me now is the exhaust note from one side when you first start up, so I am thinking of just pulling that plug underneath.

I have the MP exhaust. It's not loud at all. You need to really get on it in Sport or Sport+ to hear it. I'm toying with getting the MPPK. Maybe that will improve the growl.
