233/249 is real solid for a straight 4 turbo daily driver. Perhaps the after-market tuners can get 275/300 out of it with just a flash which would be awesome.

That would also place actual figures at (conservatively) 275hp / 290tq at the crank.. meaning quoted figures are, once again, very much under rated

Oh good, now even four cylinder BMW motors are making my "S" motor look anemic.

Pretty impressive, if BMW can keep the weight down on an F30 328i, I'd strongly consider one.

if those are numbers at the wheel, than this is a very peppy power plant!

Exactly. Don't think that's at the wheel though as it doesn't say RWHP in the video.

I knew this would be an awesome engine. The F30 328i is going to rock, and even the 528i with the N20 is a sweet ride.

I thought majority dynos at the wheels, no?
Unless they use calculated numbers to translate WHP to crank HP

So initial reviews of the sDrive28i were favourable and now the potential power you can get out of it. BMW's switch to a 4-banger is looking pretty good now huh?

Its pretty frustrating when these companies do this because they know darn well it will cause confusion about whether its whp or not. Both schools of thought are done by some people and another by another group.

For example some tuners like to "convert" albeit inaccurately from whp to crank hp in order to more easily measure it to other cars that there is no dyno availabl.

Another school does not believe in using hte conversoin factor as it is so off the mare

Was hoping substantial tq would hit lower in the RPM band like the N54. Oh well, should be a good engine nonetheless!

Sounds great. What more can you ask for? Power/Torque/Efficient. This turbo 4 is turning out to be a great replacement for the I6 well except the sound.

one thing I don't like about turbo 4's is there is absolutely no upper range like a v8 or even the turbo 6. If you guys think the 335i has no upper end, wait till you feel it in a turbo 4. This is the biggest gripe of the sti and evo crowd.

I believe those numbers are at the wheels. Automobilemag.com has the Z4 28i at 240 hp/ 258 tq.

If that is to the wheels then it is certainly impressive.

I don't think the target crowd for the 328i/528i is really itching to see the tach hit 7100rpm. Lots of torque up to 5K is plenty for everyday spirited driving with these cars.

Not bad for a tiny snail. However, like the N55, I don't think there will be huge power gains with a tune like some of you are expecting.

I used to have a Audi TTS w/DSG and that car's 2.0 L turbo engine was sweet. The rev limiter was at 6800 rpm. It is officially said to have 282 hp@ the engine and it felt definately more powerful than its official figures. That engine showed me how a turbocharged engine can be fun.
