Talking Parts shop in Austin for my M3

Hi all,

Are there any shops in Austin for BMW parts, particularly the M3?

Thanks!

Other than the Austin BMW dealer I don't think many shops in Austin carry parts but you can call Dr. VANOS, Black Forest Werkshop, Dr. Bimmer, Terry Sayther, and Active Motorwerks as they are all located in and around Austin and work primarily on BMW and MINI. My M3 is currently at Active Motorwerks getting worked on as I write. I don't think you could do wrong visiting or calling either shop.

Boost Logic may carry some generic universal performance parts but they primarily work with Supras, GTRs, and other sports cars/exotics.

Soul Speed is great. FYI, Colin moved to Harris Hill Road.

^So he took Eric's place?

If so, those are some big shoes to fill. Eric being one of the coolest guys I've met had me out there once or twice a month when I was working offshore

Not sure who's spot he took over. Colin is in the garage attached to the clubhouse.

Colin (Soul Speed) is pretty laid back and I've always been really happy with his work and advice. It sucks that Soul Speed closed down since I have drive another 45min-1hr to get there I can't find another shop I trust that can do alignments and corner balancing on lowered cars in the area. Key word being trust.

I don't even like going to BMW of Austin for alignments...they do what they wanna do. F' your specs.

Soulspeed shut down? I was wondering why I hadn't heard from them in a while. Any idea what happened to Jasper? I know he used to work at the Lotus dealer Bo owned prior to starting H2R.

Colin got tired of running the shop and rent was expensive. I would imagine its tough to be the main wrencher and run a business. He seems happier being at Harris Hill Road. Jasper is working with some Mazda racing team or something. Colin did take care of him before he closed the doors.

I really miss that shop. It was an hour away which was still bearable. I liked shooting the shit with Jasper and Colin. Most of all, Colin does damned good work! I think the biggest problem was Colin is too nice. He charges me $100 for alignment which is absurd if you ask me. I go there for the alignment and expertise...which is worth well over $100. Then if I would come back within 3-4 months, he would do a check or toe adjustment for $50ish. How many shop have you had that problem with?

+1 Colin is a great guy. Worth the trip to H2R for his help.

I would stay away from BMW of Austin like the plague for anything involving 3rd party parts...including thumb tacks.

I wonder how much Colin would charge for install of AST 5100s and swaybars.
