Anyone with LSD install experience??
I purchased myself a new Mfactory LSD for my bolted 335 MT. I have access to a full lift and any tool I could need so I'm thinking of doing the install myself. It seems straight forward... I've done decently big jobs like turbo swaps and clutches here and there but never any major differential mods.
I found a few DIYs on other forums but I wanted to get some more input from anyone with experience installing a torsen LSD in our cars. |

You should have zero issues. It's pretty straight forward. Just be sure you don't mix up the bearing retaining clips for each side. Just need to press the bearing races off the old diff, press them on the new one and put it back together. I'd check the backlash before and after just to make sure they are within spec. I had 60k miles on mine and had zero issues.

I would read through the procedure in the Bentley Manual first if you have access to one. If I remember correctly, there were several spots where you are supposed to use new fasteners such as the axles and the guibo also if I'm not mistaken......

Yes, you're supposed to IAW BMW, but as the torque loading of the half shaft bolts are around 60Nm, they're not stretch bolts, so no need to replace unless the old removed ones are seriously corroded.
BMW love to replace lots of bolts and most of the time it's a financially based decision, not an engineering one.

There's no need for shims in the case that the backlash is off? I haven't read of anyone needing them but I have heard them brought up.
I've planned to install today at a local diy shop.
