Cap looks good. Probably would have gotten it with my valve if it was out at the time. I guess I'll look on the bright side, it looks stock

Replaced

Removed old valve yesterday -- seemed ok -- this check valve did hold pressure and was generally clean. So I am not sure if the new RB Valve will work any differently. My BMS OCC did not HAVE ANY ACCUMULATION of oil after 3 months. However - my intakes were heavily coated with tar/sludge when I blasted them last week.
.
.
Cap is just for looks -- I was gently with it and on re-installation was careful not to over tighten.
.
I will just have to trust ROB @ RB TURBO that this is an upgrade.

The OEM valve is a joke in comparison lol!

If you hook an air compressor to it, you will see that it holds pressure better (@ say 20psi) over the OEM valve. In that sense, it is an upgrade. But do not think this is a power adder as that is not the intent (ie. 15rwhp on the dyno). The intent is in that every vehicle is different, and PCV valves can accumulate gunk and/or wear at different rates and at a point need replacement. The primary reason for this is that fact that there is no ability (to anyones knowledge) to get a new PCV valve from BMW without buying a new valve cover at around $400. This does not make much sense to do if the PCV valve is the only component that needs replaced, and in my opinion and as a general rule of thumb a PCV valve is good idea to change every 50k or so miles. The secondary reason is that it also holds boost pressure better even over a well working OEM unit. At the end of the day keep in mind this is a $40 part.

As for the cap, it is also not going to add any power. It is not really for looks either as it is invisible with the covers all in place. The purpose of the cap is that some have damaged their caps while loosening/unloosening them. When you do that, you are at the mercy of buying a new valve cover (@~$400) just for the cap as it is not available as an individual component from BMW. Making the cap was a lose lose situation for RB; knowing we will only sell to those who want a cool looking hassle free cap or those who are only in dire need for it (there have been a few in this boat), it likely will take well over a year to come out even on making it.

Hope this helps, not out trying to break hearts over here... just trying to give parts that people ask for even if it means at a loss. As priced, the cap will take selling right 20 units before breaking even... which I predict will be sometime in mid 2014. lol.

The cap has a few actual benefits.

1. You can tighten the cap and know it is tight
2. No fear of shredding the OEM plastic cap
3. You can service the pcv valve on this car, take it off put it on every other car/motor you get.
4. Piece of mind...that is a big one for me, I know I have the best parts possible.

Couple questions about the rb pcv valve . What is the purpose ? To eliminate oil going to unwanted places ? Is the best time to do this when doing vcg replacement? Do you need a occ for it to be effective ?

How long has it been since you've had a Walnut Blast? Also try cleaning TMAP sensors

Cool. Thxx. The tmap sensor Is locate on the chargepipe just before the throttle body right?

How often do you need to clean it? Do you just spray it and wipe off ?
