DetailersDomain.com - Santorini Blue M3 gets more pop

We got a call from Matt Stellas (aka mfatuation) shortly after Bimmerfest requesting a paint correction for this very special Santorini Blue M3. Apparently during transport back home to NJ, the car wash wiped down incorrectly. Take a look at the exterior paint correction.

We also opted for Auto Finesse Illusion due to its show car status.

Enjoy!

Looks great. Question for you. I just had my Azurite Black M5 detailed by a professional two months ago. He removed all the swirl marks and I just noticed some are back on the car. I never take the car to car washes and wash it myself at home. I use this to dry as well:

Thanks

what is your wash process, 2 buckets, grit guards, foam gun, blow dry? I know you use the drying towels above.

One bucket, Meguiars shampoo, Griot's Garage 10268 Micro Fiber Wash Mitt, mothers wheel brush with sonax wheel cleaner. Wet the car, clean it with the bucket contents and wash mitt, rinse and dry.

You should be using a two bucket system with grit guards. One fresh water, the other dirty water.

Wash from top to bottom always, and return to fresh water often.

The above alone should prevent you from scratching or swirling your paint any further.

Black is one of the toughest colors to keep free of swirls. I own a FB M5, and I need to take every precaution possible to prevent scratching/swirling. So I purchased and use the following which also make life much easier as I always wash and detail my own car.

- Pressure Washer
- Foamer Attachment For P/W
- Air Force MasterBlaster Car Dryer

For gloss paintwork, I personally prefer Zaino products. I also like the Zaino CS sealant.

If you want to remove the paint scratches and swirls yourself, I like to use Menzerna.

+1

and Zaino Z-5 (can also be layered & works very well if you use ZFX) isn't too bad at filling and masking minor swirls on dark colours. May be worth a go if you want to try a quick fix before getting it detailed again.

Z-8 as QD provides a really deep gloss on darker colours.

Zaino is also pretty resistant to bug splatter (within reason).
