6MT clutch pedal creak when releasing

When I shift into gear and release the clutch pedal it sounds like a creaky staircase or when wet rubber gloves rub together. My e90 330i is at about 65k now and this has happened a few times in the past ~4k miles. The noise eventually goes away after 3 or 4 miles of city driving which leads me to believe it's water related, assuming it evaporated from a hot engine bay.. I can noticeably feel the creaking through the pedal as well.\

If I'm in gear or neutral, and press/release the pedal it won't make the noise. It's only when I shift to another gear and only on release.

The dealer replaced the tranny around 45k miles due to heavy resistance when putting it in gear on a cold morning. Too bad the issue is still there and seems normal after reading the forums. No idea if this has any relevance.

Anyone ever run into this problem and know how to fix it? I can't always duplicate it so I don't want to take it to the dealer just yet.

When the dealer replaced your transmission, did they also replace the clutch? If not...it could just be the clutch pressure plate fingers making noise.

My 09 328 did the same thing. I just sprayed some silicon on/around the bushing above the pedal and that took care of it. Nothing fancy, but it was a bit of a mess getting the spray where I wanted it. Worked in my situation

Wow I'm so happy to find a thread on this I've had the same issue but no noise here as well since I bought the car a year ago. Took of the kick panel and tried to identify the issue but couldn't.

Wingnutts I'm gonna have to try the silicone trick. Did you also have some kind of resistance or feel in your pedal? I have zero noise but I feel some kind of detent/creak through the pedal only when I push it.

I never had any more than the normal resistance in the pedal. I did have an issue where the pedal was floating left and right. There are after market bushings you can get to replace the original. I went with a plastic one which fixed most of the problem. I wasn't going to deal the work needed to replace it with an aluminum bushing which would have been ideal.

In my experiences with manual cars my entire life, I've always had some creaking/noise issue somewhere in the clutch pedal assembly somewhere at sometime. It is a highly used component, so something will give. A little lubrication here or there has always done the trick for me.

Mine used to. When my clutch was changed out the noise went away. It didn't affect anything that I noticed. I wouldn't worry about it.
