M4 vs. RC-F [updated]
UPDATE 1/09/14:
Preliminary specs for the RC-F: 5L V8 480 HP 384 lb-ft Toque 3970 LBS 7300 RPM redline Automatic Transmission only (No DCT) Tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sports sized 255/35 in front, 275/35 in back. The lexus also features a fuel saving technology borrowed from the Prius according to MT "A switch to electric phasing on all four cams brings greater variability and precision, and lets the engine borrow the Prius' more efficient Atkinson cycle operation during low-demand cruising conditions. So, while BMW downsized its M3/M4 engine from a 4.0-liter V-8 to a 3.0-liter I-6 and added twin turbochargers to compensate, Lexus virtually downsizes its 5.0-liter V-8 to roughly a 4.2-liter just by leaving the intake valves open for part of the compression stroke during Atkinson operation." Would you consider the Lexus RC F if it had similar specs to the M4 and if it were ~10% cheaper. Seems like Lexus is really looking to compete with BMW on this one since it seems they want to unveil it in Detroit at the same time as the M4 will be unveiled. If they really want to compete their are going to have to win the price war as well. I'd personally stick with the M4 although I'll admit that the retractable spoiler on the RC F is pretty cool

That front has to go, the rest of the car looks good though. If it were half a beautiful as the LFA and had M3 level performance people would definitely give it a look, or at least I would.
Hasn't the new IS gotten good reviews overall, at least for the chasis? |

I'd buy a Toyota if they weren't grotesque looking. Actually change that to if they were attractive. They are currently grotesque and being ultra bland as they used to is not cutting it either. A car in this class needs to be attractive.
Toyota and Caddilac suffer from the same unfortunate misplaced pride and stubbornness. They should have realized a long time ago that they are horrible at design, any homeless bum from Bologna or Maranello can do better. Get some help already, the world is full of design houses that can make beautiful things. I'm exaggerating here since I'm so disappointed in Toyota and Honda. Both has world class build quality, Toyota now design cars with fun potential but they are ugly, Honda has a world class racing pedigree with enormous know how but insist on putting out only wet noodles of dull cars. I really enjoyed my test drive of the 11 isf.. if it had a manual or dct it would be even better.. the reliability of Lexus is also a plus. I'm still on the fence on the new styling however.

the front end looks horrible in pictures but in the flesh, they look pretty damn good. Well so far, the fsport package look good in person with all the extra kit parts. Normal version, not as good.
There is an fsport IS in black with gunmetal wheels at work and i always look at it since it looks so nice. One of the parking lot valet attendants keeps telling me stick to the m3! Lol It looks nice though and so far impressions are that it is sportier than the f30 although not as powerful. Lets hope it has a dual clutch or a manual. |

i was previously on the app but now on the computer....look at the fender flares on the rear .... even with camo it looks huge....can't wait to see it without the wrap.
in the m3 prototypes with the camo, the fender flares are hard to see and with them off, they are huge.....wondering how this will come out! |

If the Lexus RC looks are anything to go by, then the RCF will be a strong contender

I have driven many iterations of Lexus Cars and while a good car they just bore me and don't move me at all. Would not ever pick over an M4
