BMW Gran Turismo “Shooting Brake” Concept

Back in April when BMW premiered the Gran Coupe concept, Scott26 mentioned something about a "Shooting Brake model" being built for market evaluation.

So I created a speculative rendering of how it may look like.

For reference, here are couple of press pics of the Gran Coupe.

And here are the renderings of the BMW Design Concept GRAN TURISMO "Shooting Brake" as posted in LLN.

Front Quarter shot

I turned on the front signal lights to show them off as you can barely see it being positioned underneath the headlights.

Rear quarter shots showing more features of the Shooting Brake Concept.

The hofmeister kink is a lot more angular and sharp as opposed to the rounded kink as seen in the 5er touring. The car is said to received a full panoramic glass roof, wide stance with large wheels and a split hatch.

The hatch opens up similar to the X5 where the top half opens up for quick access to the cargo etc.

And the bottom hatch folds down making it convenient during picnics etc.

And here's what scott27 had posted about it over at GCF.

When lined up against a conventional 5er Touring in this case the F11, The 5er is much taller , whereas the Shooting Brake sits much lower and has a more sloping roof towards the rear of the car , The rear quarter light is smaller than the 5er Touring.

Overall there are distinguishable details between the shooting Brake and the Touring. The Gran Coupe is similar when compared to the height of both the 5er and 7er. In order of height when facing the car , the order is Gran Coupe , 5er , 7er. there is a noticable difference between these cars.

The Gran Coupe has had an additional twin in the form of the Shooting Brake ,conceived because within the Premium segment it has become apparent that there are customers looking for the next stage in a luxury automobile. Other BMW's that formed this idea included the stillborn CS Concept and car's that made it to production the BMW X6 and BMW 5er Gran Turismo.

Shooting Brake is seen as initially the "second car" The car that will be used mostly at the weekend for the customer who works in the city and retires to his weekend retreat in the Hamptons are whatever?
The car that will fullfill the weekend requirements , Golf @ the Country Club , purchasing a piece of antique furniture , Polo , A trip to the beach etc, all in luxury

The split tailgate entails a classic "Shooting Brake" style in which a picnic can be laid on the lowerhalf of the tailgate or could be used as a temporary seat to watch the afternoons proceedings of an event.

It uses the evocative "Gran Turismo" titile because it shows like the F07 It is all about travelling in style.

I hope they don't wreck it with that ridiculous flop down tail gate. It makes it impossible to load anything! A dual function tailgate with flip up window/flip up whole gate is MUCH MORE FUNCTIONAL!

That looks fantastic...id rock it. But isn't a shooting brake a 3 door?

Is it brave to propose a shooting brake that does not have faux wood panels lining the doors.

Nice work! I would even dare to say this could as well be an actual rendering by BMW :-)
