Low Cost 18" opinion

I have a 2006 325i Base (16" wheels) which is my daily driver.

I need tires, so I am thinking about putting on 18" to refresh the look, but I don't want to spend alot of money as I don't use this car for performance driving.

I want them to be able to accept a bmw center cap.
I live in seattle where we get lots of rain and occasional snow thus I am thinking all seasons and a standard fit so I could put slim chains if needed ( I have only needed them once in 4 years)

I was looking at the Drag DR-37 (silver) 8 x 18 ET 40 with Continental Extreme contact DWS 225/40ZR18 92Y from Discount tire direct

or ASA GT5 8x18 ET 32 with same tires from tire rack.

Conceptually I like the discount tire direct option due to lower cost and a replacement warranty.

Questions to the Forum.

1. Any experience with either of these wheels given the above?
2. Any one see any issues with my plan above?
3. Any suggestions.

Thanks!
Matt

I know they are 19" but they are almost too cheap. It's even cheaper if you do 9.5 et32 all around too.

I have 18" black DR-37's also from Discount Tire. I have had no performance problems with them... the only downside is that they have some curb rash in which the silver shows through.

I've always had great experiences at DT... their customer service is pretty great. I had all my tires done on my previous vehicle there as well. Plus they offer a great financing promotion where you get 6 mos. to pay with no interest and throw you a gift card.

For combined value and service, it is a pretty good option. Good luck!

Can't get a better deal for some good looking wheels. Wish I had the money for an extra set.

I just bought the same set in flat black. They look great! They were cheaper than tirerack out the door. Great customer service and handling.

the 18 inch OEM style 162s have always looked perfect on pre-lci sedans in my opinion. Cheap to get a hold of, oem quality and finish.

Those wheels are nice, did you use the factory center caps from your stock rims?

Thanks to all for your posts.

I am going to go with the Drag DR-37's w/ bmw center caps and Continental Extreme contact DWS
My original plan was to go with 8" ET 40 rims with 225/40-18 all around with the hope that I could put chains on if i needed them (I have needed them once in 3 years).

Question:
1. does anyone know if I can put chains on 225/40-18?

2. or should I go with staggered and if so should i stay with he 8"et 40's or the 8.5 ET 40 in the rear with either 245/35-18 or 255/35-18's?

I look forward to your thoughts.

Wow! For 449, that's hard to beat. I don't really deal with potholes so these are an option for me. Thanks!

As far as I know, all BMW oem wheel center caps have been the same size for the past twenty years or so. The measure about 70mm in diameter.
