(note: I posted this in the Wheel/tire section, but i figured i'd repost it here since it is specific to x-drive. (i want to run a square setup to reduce understeer, in addition to Kw V3 and UUC F/R sway bars.)

I've been brainstorming the ideal square setup for a 335i xdrive. I feel like the ideal setup is 18x9 with 255/35/18 all around. I'm trying to figure out if the square setup of APEX ARC 8 18x9 ET42 with 8mm spacers up front and 10mm in the rear with a 255/35/18 will work given the following facts:

An APEX Arc 8 in 18x9 et 42 with 8mm spacer up front will have 13mm LESS inner clearance than a STOCK 313 with no spacer, and extend outwards 3mm more than a 313 with a 10mm spacer in the rear.

an APEX Arc 8 in 18x9 et 42 with a 10mm spacer in the rear will have 1mm LESS inner clearance than a STOCK 313 with no spacer, and extend outwards 1mm more than a 313 with a 12mm spacer in the rear.

It seems like the rear is a no brainer, however would the front have inner clearance issues with the suspension being that it has 13mm LESS inner clearance than stock? also would a 255/35/18 rub on the fender given that the outer position would extend 3mm beyond that of a 313 with a spacer and a 225/40/18 tire?

the goal here is for me to get a 255/35/18 Square setup with michelin pilot supersports on some lightweight 18" wheels on my 335i xdrive 6mt which will be lowered on KW v3 (just a mild drop) and UUC Sway bars without rubbing or having clearance issues

313 vs 313 with spacer - many people run 10/12mm spacers on these oem offset wheels with no rubbing with stock 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 tires
Front 313 with 10mm spacer: 18x8 ET 24 (10mm MORE inner clearance. Extend an an extra 10mm)
Rear 313 with 12mm spacer: 18x8.5 ET 25 ( 12mm MORE inner clearance. Extend an extra 12mm)

Front Arc 8: 18x9 ET 42 (31MM LESS inner clearance. RETRACT by 5mm)
Rear ARC 8: 18x9 Et 42 (23MM LESS inner clearance. RETRACT by 11mm)


ARC 8 with 8/10mm spacers vs STOCK 313
Front Arc 8: 18x9 ET 34 (8mm spacer) (13MM LESS inner clearance. EXTEND an extra 13mm)
Rear ARC 8: 18x9 Et 32 (10mm spacer) (1MM LESS inner clearance. EXTEND an extra 11mm)


ARC 8 with 8/10mm spacers VS 313 with 10/12mm spacer
Front Arc 8: 18x9 ET 34 (8mm spacers) (23MM LESS inner clearance. EXTEND an extra 3mm)
Rear ARC 8: 18x9 Et 30 (12mm spacer) (11MM LESS inner clearance. EXTEND an extra 1mm)

you will have no clearence issues with 18x9 and 5+10 mm spacers. i would avoid runnig spacers on at least the front if you can, and alot of 10mm spacers dont seat properly on e90 hubs. just some thing to consider

I'm running square set up 18x8.5 and looks way to tucked in the rear. I just bought a bms 15mm spacer for rear. I didn't want to run spacers and am stalling on putting them on. Hopefully they won't push rears out to much that I will need to run fronts as well.

I had 3cm spacers on my 275 19'' wheels (9,5) with slight rubbing ....

I have an 2011 335xi with 245X35X18 square set up offsets of 35 on the rims. Also with Mich. Super Sports. This set up does not feel as connected to the road as the staggered set up from the factory...at times it seems unstable in handling around 75-80 mph on the freeway that has some cracks in the pavement....makes me think that too wide of tire is not the best way to go. I was wanting a square set up with the most rubber on the road. When I need to replace the tires....I will be thinking of going with less rubber on square set up (235's) ...or back to the staggered set up.

what's the width of your wheels? 245/35/18 is not really a lot of rubber on the road. it's not that narrow but its not excessively wide. i run 255/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rear on my 300zx TT and i dont find it feels unstable at high speeds. if anything it feels more stable especially in terms of cornering grip.

i woudl be fine running 5mm spacers up front. I would rather not run more than 8 or i'm pretty sure i'll have fender running.

+1 for looks tucked. Here's a pic of my square 18x8.5et35 M359s. Right now, I'm looking to put 10mm spacers all around to get rid of the tuck, but I'm not sure of the spacing.

When you do put the 15mm on, would you mind pm'ing me a pic? I'm deciding whether the 10, 15, or 20 would be appropriate.

My E90 lci 19x8.5 et 30 square setup with 15mm spacer in the rear. Pre-lci models sit 7-8mm inwards compared to lci in the rear

My wheels have a width of 8.5"
