Hi guys! Finally got my new e91 330xd. quick review and couple of notes

Hi guys! My name is Anton, i'm from Russia. at last i became the owner of BMW.

It's space gray 2010 E91 330D x-drive manual gearbox,
skyroof, sport seats anthracite combi-leather, aluminum trims. standard exterior and wheels. I wanted it to be as modest as possible. anyway it looks very nice. beautiful car.

First impressions:
1) Rock solid on the road. Feels like a car of d/e class. not c - thanks to it's mass of 1730 kg.
2) Very comfortable ride at any speed.
3) Very easy to use manual gearbox and clutch.

I drove Audi a3 '99 turbo-quattro with stick and Volvo s40 2.4 auto, but BMW it's definitely new level of emotions and feelings.

Couple of questions and notes:
1) I was a bit confused when found out, that i can't read the display of bmw-professional audio unit wearing my sunglasses (Ray Ban P) because of polarized filter in it. Has anybody fixed this problem or the only way is to replace the sunglasses w/o polarization filter? btw dash and climate control displays are visible w/o any problems. there is no such problem in Volvo and Audi.

2) is it possible to set the indoor lights not to turn on when leaving the car or engine stop?

3) I was a bit disappointed with the bmw professional audio Harman/Kardon.
no doubt that Volvo's Dynaudio premium sound system sounds much better. i hope i'll be able to tune it using equaliser. anyway, it's not so important now for me =).

I will post some photos soon.

Thanks.

1) You can buy films from 3M, etc. that will rotate the polarity of the stereo so that it matches your glasses. They're cheap, but you'll have to size and cut the pieces yourself. They just stick on top of the existing display.

2) not that i know of

3) sometimes i'm disappointed in the audio also, until i sit in another car which always sounds worse to me. Depends a lot on the type of music you listen to, I think.

Do a search of the forums, there is a post on what best settings to use to set up the stereo, not sure if it will be under Harmon Kardon or Logic 7 but will help

Thanks for replies. i've already found that thread about eq settings and even improved them. i was amazed the quality of bass response. two 21 cm. speakers under front seats do their job very well. especially when windows and roof is closed.

And about 3m film to invert polarization - i'm not sure what kind of shops should i ask, because as i understood - it's quite rare thing here.

Actually there is no any silly question about this car. everything is clear and easy. it's a well done car. I can't wait when the running in period is over to feel what 520 Nm is. I hope i will be able to handle the gear shifting that fast to achive 6.0 sec. 0-100 km/h. offtopic: btw - i could do this on my a3 - prooflink =)

Here are some pictures.
Space grey exterior, standard wheels, combi-leather interior.
Should i post them to media-forum once more?

And about 3m polarizing film - it's truly not so easy to get this thing here and also Post of Russia - it's better to avoid it when you order online. ever. (1-2 months of waiting is normal). so i think i would consider this problem not so important for me =).
but if anybody is ready to send me a private mail with a sheet of that film that would be great =).

Hairyarse, breaking in period is up to 2000 km. that's what they wrote in the manual. and you should not run over 3500rpm nor exceed the speed of 150km/h on the diesel (4500 rpm and 160 km/h on petrol one).

Man... I am SO jealous. That would be the combo to order if it were available in the US. Wagon + diesel + AWD + stick shift = WINNER!

Congrats on the new ride!
