This here! Plus gas mileage is amazing if you drive it like a DD

Sorry for the delayed response but, working; you are right, maybe a Japanese or Korean car would suffice for a DD

get whatever you can afford

shoot i daily my M3, and when the weekend comes i use my wife car which is a Honda FIT....
LMAO , just too funny and so true. It's not what I can afford but what I can DD and not give a crap if somebody steals the hood ornament or scratches the car whereas I would on an M very much. That was my whole idea of this thread but it has turned out a little entertaining, great, something different. I'm currently DD a P/U and just plain got tired of the size (loved the idea of running over any arse that deserved it though) but parking lots and spaces are a pain and as age advances, we tend to look for comfort in a way (not a gramps by any means but middle age).

A 4 dr. would make it nice for space when needed as in the other way wishing you had it when you needed it (throw your crap in the back seat kind of thing although I'm usually not a slob). I think that the 328i is a very good option or just maybe a Kia Forte 2.4l SX That is something you can abuse, comfortable enough and really don't care about giving it to the Valet Parking little resent full prick (sorry but tell me who has not had it happen?). It's not about the money but practicality of day in and day out or those places you just wish you hadn't gone in your M.

MHO

Cheers

Agree. If OP insists his M3 not be daily driven, then something like this is the most logical, IMHO. It makes no sense to me to get a 328i when you can get something with almost the same performance for so much less. I might even go with something smaller like a Kia Rio or whatever other equivalent is out there (Yaris, Fit, Sonic, Fiesta, Versa, etc.).

Yeah but a little overboard with the boxes (Yaris, Fit, etc...) I'm not a small guy and those are way too small and don't have the amenities of the Kia I mentioned, no need to sacrafice comfort IMHO.

I'm 6'2" and fit better in a Fit (dammit) than the Kia. Plus the Fit will hold (wanted to say fit again) a lot more inside for runs to the store. It does look like hell though.

Not sure about the amenities on the Japanese or Korean sub-compacts, but I think you can just about everything in a Fiesta, including Nav, leather, etc. Also, like the guy says above, they actually have pretty good interior space.

Also, there's always a Mini like mentioned earlier, but that's probably a lot more money (you do get better performance than the others though).

Depends on how much you can afford. One might want a large car that they can cary a lot, very comfortable, luxurious, top-of-the-line equipment, and that can accelerate quick, at this point you don't really care about fuel economy. 550, m5 even, 750, X5, X5m

Pure economy would say 128i 6mt. blehh

The problem with the 335d is:
-price would have to be near the 328 for you to make any savings from fuel eco.
-you can not drive heavy and expect to get above 26 in the city
-31 city is complete economical, almost granny driving. Unless you reset the mpg calc not long prior to seeing/taking a picture of it
-lack of 6mt for some who don't stop exercising

I vote for the 328. I had one for a loaner when I dropped off my e93 for service and I loved it! The acceleration was great for daily driving, the ride was comfortable and smooth, and it had good gas mileage.

I would say the 328i, but if you want a Japanese car the Acura TSX is perfect for city driving.

No it's not. If that's what you're doing with it, you're doing it wrong. The whole idea behind the M3 is that it's a daily-drivable performance car; you put up with the compromises in exchange for it's practical capabilities.

If you're looking for something that's for weekends-only pleasure-driving, BMW makes the Z-series and there's this other German car maker in Stuttgart that you might have heard of, rumored to make a fairly decent sports car themselves.

Just dont carry more than one and bring carry on. Never had a space issue.....I guess just looking at it answers the question.

Have you looked into an accord, maxima, or altima, they make great DD-- good MPGs and service is cheap $30-40 oil changes and dont really do anything major till 30k if you really need AWD/4WD look in to Subarus (wrx).... is sad to say some hyundai and kia are becoming eye catchers on the road for me Im not sure what they're but they look good lol..

but 328i would be your best pick since you want stay with bmw

E92 - M3, coupé -the best car ever ! And, yes, it is perfect for everyday driving, grocery shopping, little week-end trips and transporting 2 persons (if not too 'wide' because getting in and out from the back may be difficult ) on the back seat.
